IT'S TIME TO GO TO THE OPTOMETRIST.
Already a few weeks ago, North Africa is experiencing an historic moment. I think it is a good time to think about the African question…
Often I find people (nasty) that criticizes Moroccans and often their comments have no quality "people from Morocco is invading our country" or "all Muslims are terrorists" ... Let us with Libya: If one thing I liked about Gaddaffi (Libyan dictator) is that he put the blame, about the revolt, on Al-quaeda .In fact, even the dictator has detracted the terrorist group to attract supporters. Although for anyone who lives in Libya it would seem a reasonable electoral method, there are many people here that still believes that all Arabs want “Westerners” to die.
On the other hand I like to emphasize how the Arab world is connected. The revolt in Tunisia destroyed the dictatorship and then the same thing happened in Egypt, Libya has started now and we can see some movement in Morocco. I wonder what would happen if there was any revolution in Italy, it would come to Spain with the same speed...? Maybe Europe should inspire his project looking at North Africa.
I really like to think that Islam is wishing a change. In fact, I not only like it but wish (and want) it because I think if the rebellion triumphs Spain would be a better place to live and it would make possible that the stupid people (like Josep Anglada) lose their irrational reasons to justify a xenophobe policy.
I must say that Spain has many Arab roots so we should be interested in our neighbors to come into democracy. And, I have no doubt that (religion aside) I feel as close to North Africa than, for example, in English culture.
I hope that Europe, one day, will set aside oil’s preoccupations and will be decided to help the rebellion. In the same way, I wish Spanish people to be astonished because this demonstration of courage, desire for change and freedom that our neighbors had showed us. I say this because I don’t want nobody to comment the rebellion as Bisbal did ... In short, it's a good time to look at Islam through different eyes and change, a little, our distorted view.
